COMMUNITIES TRASH
About ten years ago, when I applied for a job as janitor I never in my wildest dreams imagined I would ever become the executive fitness director. I was a young lad of about seventeen, and I had just arrived from Puerto Rico with my parents. Money was tight, and so I turned to the wanted ads in the daily paper. It took a few days for me to settle with a job as the janitor at the local YMCA. For the next couple of years I got used to being known as the person that cleans up the rest of the community’s trash. About three years into the job, the manager approached me and thanked me for my loyalty and asked if I would like to switch to a new contract as office manager. I was ecstatic; never in my life did I think that a foreigner such as me would be recognized so highly. I was happy to work in the office and expand the great future plans the community center was working on. Next week we are beginning to build our brand new wing to be used solely for different forms of fitness. There will be a huge stunning pool, state of the art change rooms, as well as a special locker room set aside for our newly hired, highly recommended personal trainers. It was not so shocking when I was approached and asked if I would accept the job as executive fitness director.
